CHARITIES/GRANTMAKING ORGANIZATIONS | UNITED WAY OF LINCOLN AND LANCASTER COUNTY

Works to bring the whole community together, tackling issues facing Lincoln and Lancaster County as a whole.

United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County does not offer programs; only refers callers to community-wide programming.

Funds raised in the community are distributed to programs based on United Way focus areas:

Education - The relationship between high school graduation and lifetime potential is clearly established. In order to reach high school graduation, there are key development stages along the way, and if met, lead to maximizing the student's potential not only in school, but in post-secondary education and beyond. These key development stages beginning with early childhood education, set the foundation and pave the path for on-time graduation and lifetime success. United Way, working together with the Lincoln Public Schools, aims to raise the district's on time graduation rate by funding programs that deliver outcomes throughout these developmental stages.

Income - Many families are walking a financial tightrope where any misstep can cause them to fall. United Way provides funding to programs that stabilize families by providing income supports - finding ways for them to stay in their homes, or afford their utilities, or make sure they have enough food. It means families can get to the end of the month with money left over to save, invest, or pay down debt. This helps hundreds of families move closer to financial stability.

Health - Health and safety issues can be difficult topics to address, but the fact remains that many families in our community need help and support in these areas. Domestic violence and sexual assault continues to affect our friends and neighbors. Partner programs support these individuals to help them move toward recovery.
