HOMELESS SHELTER | COMMUNITY CRISIS CENTER

Emergency shelter for survivors of domestic/sexual violence & homelessness with their minor children needing a safe place to stay. There is a 40-bed shelter for victims and their children. A case manager will work with clients while they are at the shelter to make a service plan for them and their children.

Residents are provided room and board with meals, 24-hour case management, counseling, and material assistance.

Medical advocacy offers referrals and accompaniment as needed.

DOMESTIC/SEXUAL ABUSE AND VIOLENT CRIME SERVICES | ACCESS (ASSAULT CARE CENTER EXTENDING SHELTER AND SUPPORT)

Provides free and confidential support to victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and homicide or other violent crimes. Advocates meet with clients where the client is in Boone, Greene, Marshall, Story, and Tama counties. A 24-hour crisis hotline and shelter for victims of domestic violence are also available.

Housing Access offers a multitude of services and programs to assist survivors in gaining permanent housing.

Shelter for persons experiencing domestic violence offering emergency housing, food, case management and counseling by an advocate. Women and children housed on site; men are given safe housing options over the phone.


The shelter location is undisclosed to provide greater security for its residents. It has a comprehensive security system and measures to provide a safe refuge for women and their children fleeing domestic violence.


The Shelter provides a warm home-style living setting. Bedrooms are assigned and include all bedding and pillows. Guests share a living, full kitchen, bathroom spaces, and laundry. The Shelter provides room for children to play and family space.


Food, clothing, and toys will be made immediately available for those fleeing. Contact the Domestic Violence Shelter 24 hours a day or call the CRISIS Line.
