MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE | CROSS OUTREACH

Cross Outreach is an outreach program established to assist people in crisis with basic survival needs. Can offer a one-time gift toward the payment of mortgage as time and funding permits.

Does not assist with car gas.

NEXT STEP | MID CENTRAL COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY

Provides financial literacy workshops to help families and individuals achieve stability and secure homeownership. Can also help, when funding is available, with back rent and overdue mortgage payments. Services include credit building, debt reduction coaching, homeownership/homebuyer education, access to income support services (emergency rent and mortgage help when funding available), employment coaching/career services, and financial education and coaching.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE | ROCK ISLAND TOWNSHIP

Administers the General Assistance Program. Eligible clients may receive a maximum of $435 per month towards rent, utilities (MidAmerican or City of Rock Island), personal needs and food. Vouchers are issued to clients and checks are mailed to the rental property owners. All rental properties must be registered with the City of Rock Island.

Typically, clients are single, unemployed or applying for Social Security Disability (SSDI) and have no other means of financial self-support. The application process can take up to 30 days.

In February or March, the Township usually receives a grant for help to families by paying one month's rent or mortgage. The maximum grant is $450.
