Offers assistance to individuals and families in Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties who are past due on their rent or mortgage and utility payments and are at risk of becoming homeless or are homeless due to a recent financial crisis affecting their ability to pay housing costs.

Homeless Prevention Services including assistance with rent payments and utility bills. Deposit assistance is available if funding allows. All payments are made directly to landlords/providers. Short-term emergency lodging is also available through hotel vouchers when funds and space allow.

Local area agencies that help with financial assistance in the Linn County area are transitioning to a Centralized Financial Assistance center that can help direct residents of Linn County to the appropriate financial assistance resources in their area. This is a collaborative effort between United Way of East Central Iowa, Linn County, Waypoint and local community agencies.

Administers the General Assistance Program. Eligible clients may receive a maximum of $435 per month towards rent, utilities (MidAmerican or City of Rock Island), personal needs and food. Vouchers are issued to clients and checks are mailed to the rental property owners. All rental properties must be registered with the City of Rock Island.
