Police services which promote a safe and secure community.

Neighborhood Watch Program provides a formal network for concerned citizens to communicate with neighbors and the Police Department regarding crime-related problems. Services include education to reduce crime which affects families and property; home security and personal awareness information provided through meetings, films and displays; and an Operation Identification System of marking property to aid in owner identification of stolen property.

Provides individual and group crisis management services to adult and child survivors of domestic violence who are not staying in the shelter. Also provides community referrals and advocacy for clients not staying in the shelter. All services are confidential.

Academy program for high school dropouts, GED and credit recovery ages 15.5-18. Classes start in January and July and run for seventeen months. The first five months are spent in residency at the campus in Rantoul, IL. In a structured quasi-military environment, youth receive GED instruction or credit recovery, self-discipline, life coping skills, computer skills, and career counseling, and they perform community service projects. Post-graduation, cadets return to the community to continue education in a post secondary institution or vocational school, or obtain employment, with the guidance of a mentor from their community. Youth may be eligible to receive a monetary allowance to assist in education or employment costs.

Domestic Violence Support Groups

Provides a specialized residential treatment program for delinquent adolescents in response to serious anti-social behavior. Referred youth may be victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, emotionally disturbed, behavioral disorder, runaways, homeless, alleged delinquents who do not require a secure setting or any youth in similar crisis situations that may place them at risk.

Residential Mental Health Treatment Facilities

Offers to work with perpetrators of domestic violence to intervene in an abusive relationship to ensure the safety of the survivor and their children. Assists the batterer in recognizing and understanding their beliefs that justify the use of violence. PAIP is 26 sessions, each session lasting 90 minutes.

In addition to PAIP Galena Clinic also provides evaluations regarding potential for violence and referrals to other programs such as anger management counseling, substance abuse treatment, or psychotherapy, if deemed appropriate.

Offers behavioral health and psychiatric services to all children and adolescents. Services include child/adolescent therapy, substance use disorder services/addiction treatment, family therapy, crisis services, Mobile Crisis Response Team, Care Coordination and Wraparound supports, and school based services.

Offered to individuals (men/women) who are convicted of Domestic Abuse Assault within the Sixth Judicial District. Programming includes an intake/orientation session followed by group attendance. There is an alternative program for people with severe mental disorders, medical concerns, or other uncommon factors which require individualized services. Those appropriate for this group include: Court ordered clients, referrals from DHS and those who volunteer.

Safe place for children to be interviewed by law enforcement, case workers, or forensic interviewer once abuse has been disclosed. Provides referrals to mental health services and support groups, and follows the case through the legal system. Assists parents in reporting abuse or following up on reports already made. The volunteers are available for scheduled presentations to individual, groups, and organizations. Presentations can be tailored to a variety of audiences. Some topics include: communicating with your child, child development, shaken baby syndrome, positive discipline, signs and symptoms of child abuse/neglect, mandatory reporter training, Talking About Touching (sexual abuse prevention), and the impact of children's exposure to violence.

Elder abuse prevention and awareness.
Offers a crisis line for families and survivors of sexual abuse, domestic abuse or any other violent crime. A specially trained advocate will answer the crisis line and assist in any matter pertaining to sexual abuse, domestic abuse, or any other violent crime by listening and providing information, support and referrals. The crisis line is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Provides emotional support, individual counseling, support groups and therapy. Offers support and information for significant others, legal advocacy, medical advocacy, children's individual and group counseling, sheltering and housing services, along with general advocacy to help all community systems enhance their response to domestic abuse, sexual abuse or any other violent crime victims.
