Child Development Classes

Family resource program to support parents in educating and nurturing their children. The program provides parents with opportunities to move toward self-sufficiency by working with other community organizations. Health and mental health services are also provided to participants.

Program helps parents better understand their child's stages of development with individualized visits in the home. The weekly visits are 90 minutes in length and are designed to meet the needs of each family. Staff will assist families in planning activities that encourage the child's growth. Social activities will be held twice monthly to provide the opportunity to interact with your child and other families.

Comprehensive child development program serving children 6 weeks to 3 years old.

Staff make visits to the homes of Early Head Start children to assist parents in meeting their family goals.

Parents have the opportunity to be part of a parent committee and/or to volunteer in the center.

Early Head Start provides educational activities through the High/Scope curriculum.

All diapers, wipes, baby food and formula needed during the day are provided free of charge.

Day care for children ages 2-5; available Mon-Fri 6:30 am-5:30 pm.

Early learning program with an emphasis on the growth of language, social, physical, intellectual, and emotional developmental skills.

After school program provides programming for children in grades K-5. Afterschool PLUS Program available on days when school is not in session (in-service days, teacher conferences, holiday breaks, etc.). Available Mon-Fri 2:30 pm-5:30 pm and Mon-Fri 6:30 am-5:30 pm.

Summer day program provides a variety of activities including field trips, arts and crafts, ceramics, sports and recreational games, picnics, swimming at area pools, summer gardening, and development of writing and reading skills. Available Mon-Fri 6:30 am-5:30 pm.

Head Start provides free educational and social activities (preschool) for low income children ages three to five. Early Head Start provides free services (childcare) for children prenatal to three.
The Head Start program is a full day, full week preschool experience for low-income and disabled children 3-5 years old. The Head Start approach addresses the educational, health, nutrition, social, mental health and literacy needs of the children. Children participate in activities that promote motor, language, social/emotional, cognitive skills, literacy, science and math. All classrooms provide an inclusive environment for children with disabilities. Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack are provided daily through the CACFP program and Head Start partners with Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness to help children and families learn about healthy, local foods.

Preschool. All classes are inclusive and offer many learning opportunities for children ages 3-5.

Families that live in the district may apply when their child is three years old prior to July 31st. Students who qualify for special education and/or who are at risk will be accepted first. Others will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Only students living in the Adams Central school district will be accepted.

    The Head Start program offers full-day preschool for 3 and 4 year old children. This is a comprehensive Curriculum including math, science, literacy, social emotional development, health and nutrition services. Enrolled families may also receive additional support including: child health, vision, and dental screenings; monthly parent meetings; before and after school care (for families that qualify); transportation (where available); and referrals to other community resources. Early Head Start serves expectant families and families with children birth to three years old. Early Head Start is a year-round program that provides: Weekly home visits; Activities for parents and their infants/toddlers; Natural, inclusive environment for children with disabilities; Care and support for expectant families; Parent education and family support; Health and nutrition education; Play group experiences; and Referrals to community programs and services.

    Provides quality childcare for children ages six weeks through school age (11 years). Open until 9 pm to meet the needs of parents who needing extended care. Preschool is also provided for children ages 3, 4, and 5.
