Offers assistance to help individuals purchase necessary uniforms and supplies for verified employment. Assistance may also be provided for test fees for licenses or vocational certifications.

GED test fees may also be paid for individuals entering the workforce or increasing their earning potential. Assistance up to $150 is available with verified employment needs. This program will be available until funds are exhausted.

Upon approval, items will be ordered and delivered to the SCCR office for pick up or test fees will be paid directly to the vendor. No payments will be made directly to the client.

Provides assistance with developing resumes, applying for jobs on-line, and utilizing Job Search through the Illinois Worknet website.

Will also cover the cost of tuition and permit testing for the CDL Certification program. This area of employment has been identified as a short-term training area with high employment opportunities at a good living wage. The program is coordinated through Richland Community College, where the training is provided. Must provide a minimum of 2 pre-hire letters from potential employers before being approved for the CDL Certification program.

Several other funding sources are available for the CDL certification. Income requirements and amount of tuition paid by Empowerment Opportunity Center varies for these programs. Please call for a prescreening and to obtain information about all CDL certification options.
