Many services also apply to out-of-school individuals ages 14-24 with employment barriers, including:

ELEVATE YOUNG ADULT WORKFORCE PROGRAM | GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS

Helps youth and young adults obtain full time sustainable employment at livable wages. In this process, if training/schooling is needed to reach this goal, the program can assist with tuition for schooling and job placement. Provides supportive services such as transportation, childcare assistance, and required materials for schooling.

Other services offered include placement in Paid Work Experience (temporary work up to 350 hours) and On-The-Job training employer subsidy program (permanent full-time work).

JOB TRAINING AND GAP TUITION ASSISTANCE | HAWKEYE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

This program provides needs-based tuition assistance for approved short-term continuing education training programs for in-demand occupations. Since non-credit programs are not eligible for federal financial aid, this program is designed to bridge the funding gap for individuals that meet program and income guidelines to complete short-term training programs.

The following short-term, high-demand career training programs are approved for Gap Tuition Assistance:
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License Certificate
  • Certified Professional Medical Coder
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • CNC Machining
  • Construction Equipment Operator
  • Industrial Maintenance
  • Introduction to Construction Trades
  • Patient Access and Front Desk

  • Production Welding
Tuition assistance for this program is based on financial need and the ability to complete a program and gain full-time employment. If participants receive food assistance, they may qualify to participate in free training. The program was developed to help individuals learn skills for in-demand jobs that pay a higher wage.
