The HUB serves unconnected youth/young adults ages 16-24. Unconnected youth are defined as young adults who are living without permanent family support and have any of the following lived experience: pregnant/parenting, homeless or near homeless, foster care, juvenile probation, runaway or human trafficking/exploitation or are unconnected from their family of origin for any reason. The HUB has focused on providing programming support and services in the areas of education, employment, and empowerment.

Education: The HUB provides programming at Lincoln High for students that are credit deficient, struggling with truancy. These supports and services are aimed to assist students with staying in school and successfully moving closer to the goal of graduation. The HUB recognizes that traditional school does not work for everyone, so we also provide free GED prep classes (ages 16-24) and remove barriers to accessing GED testing.

Employ: The HUB assists participants in developing job skills through connections to volunteer opportunities, access to resources for job searching and supports once employment has been secured.

Empower: Concrete supports are imperative to navigate the transition to adulthood. The HUB empowers participants to advocate for themselves, assists with learning supports and resources and provides additional caring adults in the lives of participants. The HUB assists young people to determine the supports and services available and ensure that a customized system of supports is assembled. Assistance available to young adults includes connection to a Peer Support Specialist, access to emergency needs-based funds, youth eviction prevention programming, connection to housing supports and resources, financial literacy and budgeting assistance through Central Access Navigation and Community Outreach Housing Specialist.

Provides FIP recipients with experience that will enhance their work skills and increase their employment potential, while providing a service that will benefit the community. They will, to the maximum extent possible, learn and perform all assignments associated with a position. Participants do not receive wages for work performed, but instead receive a transportation allowance, child care assistance if necessary, and Workers' Compensation Coverage from Promise Jobs.

Assists all refugees; provides programs for ESL, transportation, cultural orientation, and employment. Helps refugees learn to live and work in the United States.

Services include:

-- Interpreters available to go with refugees to medical appointments or hospitals.

-- Advocacy.

-- Coordinates health and human services, ESL classes, housing with OHA, citizenship, drivers' licenses and classes, etc.

-- Public speaking.

-- Job placement for refugees.

-- Refugee resettlement from another country to Omaha.

-- Support groups.

-- Youth program.

Provides equitable access and opportunities for economic success for underserved clients. Programs include job readiness, assisting with job placement and developing skills to aid in job retention, ELL, citizenship, computer skills, resume writing, networking, cultural transition support groups and peer discussions, effective parenting, education and coaching to enhance and promote financial literacy and long-term self-sufficiency, and other skills necessary to compete in the modern workplace.

The programs address the barriers impacting low income and refugee families and their ability to move along the self-sufficiency continuum. Barriers from employment discrimination, language barriers, poverty, family conflict, transportation, financial illiteracy, and much more. Programs and class offerings are designed to be flexible to fit individual needs, and include a "high touch" service model which is both culturally competent and language specific.

Offers employment and training services.

Provides a customized one-on-one training program to assist individuals in increasing their employment opportunities. Program length varies upon students' needs. Offered topics include typing, computer skills (Microsoft Word or Excel), customer service skills, resume writing and cover letters, assistance with job search, help filling out applications properly, and employment counseling.

Retail Organizational Employment offers paid work opportunities for individuals who meet basic admission requirements and have sufficient skills to operate independently in their chosen area of employment, after an orientation period. Individual Program Plans are developed to help participants gain the skills necessary to obtain future competitive employment. Participants are provided service coordination and case management services.

Job Outfitters assists individuals with obtaining proper interview and work apparel. Participants must be actively seeking employment or have recently secured employment. Case management takes place at the American Job Center.

Goodwill's Job Connection is located downtown in the Goodwill Retail Store. The purpose of Job Connection is to maximize the employability of job seekers in a market that requires some computer knowledge in nearly all jobs. Individuals may receive assistance with resume and cover letter creation and templates are available for use. Staff members are also available to help guide guests through online applications. Classes or tutorials for basic computer skills, typing and data entry are also made available. Many of the tutorials are available in both English and Spanish.

Employment services including job matching and referral, job search and job placement assistance, career guidance and assessment, employer services, labor market information, apprenticeships, veteran services, resume design, interview skills development, and a variety of other programs and services.

Computers with internet available.

Many services also apply to out-of-school individuals ages 14-24 with employment barriers, including:

-- Paid work experience, summer employment, and on-the-job training opportunities

-- Tuition assistance

-- On site tutoring

-- Support services to assist with application fees, enrollment fees, work attire, school or work supplies, etc.

Offers to help veterans succeed in the 21st Century Workforce. This is accomplished through three goals: maximizing veterans employment, earning, retention, and competitiveness; assuring that service members transition to quality civilian employment; and protecting the employment and reemployment rights of veterans.
