EMPLOYMENT SERVICES | RAMP DISABILITY RESOURCES AND SERVICES

Works with disabled individuals to find employment by assisting them with job readiness skills, benefits counseling, job development, and case management. The program works with local business, as well as state and federal agencies, to ensure that the services are all encompassing.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT/VOCATIONAL SERVICES | IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES

Offers supported employment opportunities to individuals who have both the desire to work in an integrated work setting and employment abilities for this setting. The two main goals of these services are to give the individuals the opportunity to earn competitive wages and allow these wages to be earned in an integrated work setting.

Provides vocational training for persons who require a higher level of care than is available through other Hope Haven programs. Individuals receiving services must have a primary diagnosis of a mental disability and must be certified by the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care to be in need of this level of service.

DRS staff talk to persons with disabilities about their employment needs and help them find a job or get ready to go to work. They also make sure that people have the supports they need to stay on the job.

Specialized vocational rehabilitation services for people who are:
- Blind or visually impaired.
- Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Hispanic or Latino with disabilities.

DRS help high school students who have disabilities plan for their futures after high school graduation.

DRS Work Incentive Planning and Assistance Program helps people who receive SSDI/SSI benefits understand how working will affect their benefits.

DRS Supported Employment Program (SEP) serves eligible people with significant disabilities who want to go to work and need on-going support services to succeed on the job.

Offers individuals with a serious mental illness the opportunity to work in a supportive and therapeutic environment. Clients will be given an opportunity to learn vocational skills, earn money, improve self-esteem, learn to work with others in a cooperative effort, and improve chances for future competitive employment. Individuals learn office skills, light industrial skills such as assembling, packaging, and housekeeping.

Provides working age adults with disabilities a chance to be employed in the workforce through businesses in the Cedar Valley area. Offers individualized opportunities to match the employer needs and the skills and interests of the applicant. Will advocate for the employer through on-going supports to ensure the quality of the work, support any changes in responsibilities of the employee and advocate for the employee through ensuring job security and advancement opportunities.

IowaWorks of Decorah is a comprehensive job center providing support and services to assist people in becoming successfully employed. This office also provides the services of the unemployment compensation program. Services include: Employment workshops to help job seekers develop job seeking and successful employment skills; Computerized job search tools and the necessary assistive technology for individuals with visual, hearing, or physical disabilities to enable them to use these tools; and Unemployment compensation application and administration for people who have lost a job.

Designed to assist Social Security Disability (SSI/SSDI) beneficiaries with the transition from Social Security Disability Benefits to work. It provides employment supports and services to help reach work goals.

RAMP also has a certified Community Partner Work Incentives Counselor (CPWIC) that can assist individuals with understanding their benefits and the changes that will occur once employed.

Provides part-time job opportunities for individuals with disabilities in a supportive and integrated work environment at several federal properties.

Employees work both independently and in a team setting while providing valuable services to government partners. All positions provide accommodations to increase the success of employment. Employees work with a support staff to make the placement successful.

Long-term employment opportunities are available at Offutt Air Force Base, the Zorinsky Federal Building in Omaha and the Denney Federal Building in Lincoln. Positions include custodial, postal services and grounds maintenance.
