TOYS FOR TOTS FOR WASHINGTON COUNTY | HAWKEYE AREA COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM (HACAP)

Provides gifts for those in need with children (newborn through 14 years) through the Toys for Tots program.

Registration for Christmas 2025 begins October 27 and ends November 30, 2025. Registration may be completed in-person at the HACAP office or may be completed online. You will need the following information to register: photo ID for head of household (the adult registering the children must also be the adult to pick up toys), proof of Date of Birth for each child (such as birth certificate from any country or child's medical record), and proof of Washington County residency (such as valid address on photo ID, lease, utility bill). Distribution by appointment.

Call for (319) 364-9131 for assistance if unable to do this. Households with children ages newborn up to 14 (on 12/25) can sign up for toys and a ham. A Thanksgiving Meal is offered. This can be picked up in the month of December with the monthly food pantry pick-up.

For Christmas 2025:

Offers the Operation Santa program, where qualifying parents can pick out gifts for their children (ages 0-18) at a pop-up shop in December (date to be determined; by appointment only).

Visit the office and fill out an application before the deadline (Nov 22, 2025); parents will then be pre-approved for a time to come and select gifts for their children. Gift options include new and gently used clothing, games, puzzles, etc. Parents also receive a $50 gift card and $50 voucher for each child.

A public charity which raises funds and collects toys/games to be distributed to low income families during the holidays.

DONATE CASH OR CHECK: The preferred method for monetary donations is for the individual or business to send a check or money order to the local Toys for Tots Coordinator, made payable to "Toys for Tots" and mailed to: Toys for Tots Coordinator, Marine Corps Reserve Center, Bldg # 47 Dickman Ave., Des Moines IA 50315.

Offering thanksgiving baskets for families in need on Monday, November 24th, 2025, during regular hours as supplies last. Baskets include a turkey, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, pie, green beans, and a roasting pan. Donations of any amount are appreciated.

Holiday Gift and Food Basket applications may be picked up at the SENCA office in Falls City or Humboldt, starting October 28th, 2024. No applications will be accepted after November 15th at 4 pm.

Volunteers, community groups and local businesses donate materials, food, toys and skills for seasonal holiday projects for low-income families. Provides food packages and allowances to purchase clothes, shoes, coats, and household goods.

This program is especially designed to help families who are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. The Holiday Adoption Program hopes to address the needs of low-income children and families during the holidays and winter season.

For Thanksgiving 2025, in-person sign-ups are by appointment only. No more requests will be received after October 25.

Applicants must bring photo ID for all adults in the household, proof of birth date for each child, proof of address (current utility bill, mail, etc), proof of all household income. Applicants must apply at one agency only. (Salvation Army compares applicant lists with other agencies.)

For Christmas 2025, the Christmas program offers food boxes for families and/or toys for children; programs are for children ages 0-15 and seniors age 65+.

Pella Toys for Tots is a program for low income families who need assistance getting toys for their children during Christmas. Toys for Tots is for children under 14 living in Marion County. Sign-ups are taken until all slots are full.
