Provides open space and recreation at 27 locations.

The board operates the Rock Island Fitness and Activity Center, Longview Park Greenhouse, Whitewater Junction Family Aquatic Center, Saukie and Highland Springs Golf Courses, and Rock Island Sports Complex.

Seasonal programs include pool, golf, concerts, plays, etc.
Improves and maintains the physical appearance and quality of park grounds, facilities, and pools. Plans the establishment and care of public tree resources in Lincoln.

Outdoor education acquaints urban residents with the natural areas in Lincoln, including the Wilderness Park riparian forest, and the Pioneers Park Nature Center which includes 8.5 miles of trails and 668 acres of wetlands, virgin prairie, and live animal exhibits.

Four 18-hole public golf courses and one 9-hole junior golf course.

Waukon Wellness Center offers fitness classes, including: cardio, chisel, senior circuit, cardio kick, fitness mix, total body conditioning, yoga, zumba, YogaSculpt, group cycling and circuit challenge. The facilities include cardio and strength equipment; basketball, volleyball, tennis, and racquetball courts.

The Recreation Division offers instruction in various sports as well as youth sports camps, outdoor aquatic centers and spray grounds. Red Cross swimming instruction is also available at some facilities. GRASP card offers discounts to low income families (up to 50% off).

Provides a variety of leisure activities aimed at every age level. Additionally, the Parks and Recreation Department coordinates the rental of a number of shelter houses, as well as, indoor facilities suited for any occasion.
Offers sports, classes, social events, school-age programs, summer camps, specialty camps, peer counseling, and relocation/transition support for children ages 5-18 years old. Year-round activities are available for youth of active duty, DoD personnel, retirees and contractors. The facility includes Preteen/Teen Activities Rooms, Large Multi Purpose Gymnasium, Small Multi Purpose Gymnasium, and Snack Bar.

Offers recreational activities for Ankeny residents. Provides over 40 parks and 80 miles of trails, as well as aquatic centers, youth sports and skate parks.

Roller Skating and other various activities are offered all year long. Activities include open group, and family skates, dance, walking, floor hockey leagues, aerobics, craft shows, tot lot and more. The building is also available for private rental for wedding receptions, etc. There is also a game room and outdoor miniature golf course.
Waukon City Park offers horseshoe courts; outdoor swimming pool; sand volleyball courts; 4 large and 5 small shelters with grills, additional grills located throughout the park; three small playgrounds and 1 large playground (Hideaway Park); campground with facilities; hikers trail; and fishing pond. Depending on the weather, an ice skating rink will be open is located at the park for use.

Offers swimming pools and spray pads open to the public. Some Aquatic Centers offer swim sessions, swimming lessons, and private and birthday party rentals. For season passes, passes are sold per household. Individual photo ID cards are required for each family member who wishes to have a pass. All pass holders must have a current photo taken or on file. Photos can be taken at City Hall or the Valley Junction Activity Center during regular business hours or at the West Des Moines Aquatic Centers starting the first week of the season during open swim hours.

The municipal pool provides general swimming water recreational activities for the public. In addition, specific programs are offered including: swim lessons for people with disabilities, parent-infant/toddler and pre-school swim lessons, Red Cross swim lessons (Levels 1-6), Red Cross lifeguard training and water safety classes, and water exercise sessions.
