The Senior Activity Center contains a kitchenette and pantry, telephone, internet access, and a meeting area. Senior activities are scheduled based on interest and can include social activities and games, public health wellness screenings, and educational sessions.

A non-profit organization that uses sports training and quality competition to provide people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in a larger society where they are accepted and respected. Special Olympics Iowa currently serves 11,000 athletes and sports partners in all 99 counties in Iowa. Training and competition is offered in 23 different sports throughout the year.

SPECIALIZED PROGRAMS: Challenge Days are specially designed events using switch activated equipment for athletes with the most severe and profound physical and intellectual disabilities. Unified Sports is the pairing of athletes with intellectual disabilities and those without on the same team. Athlete Leadership Program (ALP) is designed to train athletes in literacy and speaking skills to enable the athletes to serve as public speakers, board members and other leadership roles in the community. Healthy Athletes is a screening program promoting greater overall health and fitness for the athletes. "Young Athletes" is an introductory program offering play day activities and socialization skills for children with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 2 and 7.

Training and competition in 20 Olympic-type sports to persons, age eight or older, with intellectual disabilities. Year round program, training and competition are offered in different sports at various times throughout the year.

Unified sports, where teams have equal numbers of traditional Special Olympics athletes and non-disabled partners on the same team.

Develop new levels of self-esteem and confidence and accomplish greater levels of independence.

Advocacy and activities for the special needs people of Clinton County. Activities include picnics, dances, parties, movies in the local area.

Offers a variety of services including monthly food and clothing distribution, family nights neighborhood events, summer youth enrichment classes, summer food program, low income bus passes, information and referral, and a computer center.

Senior coffee club meets weekly on Wednesdays starting at 9 am and a program begins at 9:30 am. Programs vary but generally topics of interest to seniors or topics proposed by the group.

Encourages members to remain active in their community and to set an example for future seniors as to how to enjoy this very special time of life.
Offers seniors time to socialize with one another while engaging in activities. Lunch is provided and the game room is open for reading, TV, and games. Every other Thursday is Bingo from 10-11 am sponsored by local businesses.
Offers a place for those with disabilities to socialize with peers and engage in various classes, activities and support groups. Activities and classes focus on health and wellbeing, independent living skills, and employment. Information and referrals to other resources can also be provided.

Jewish seniors who are home-bound or in nursing homes are visited on a regular basis, and rides are provided to ensure they get to doctors' appointments, pick up prescription medicine, and/or go grocery shopping. During Jewish holidays, the Federation provides programming to nursing homes around the area. Companionship and socialization is a priority with the Senior Program.

Social clubs offered in schools across Nebraska connecting students with and without autism. AAP can connect teachers to the training and support needed to start a group.

International program of year-round sports and athletic competitions for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Special Olympics athletes include men, women, boys, and girls; the program offers training and competition opportunities for every athlete regardless of gender, age, or ability.

Hosts exclusive events throughout the year to allow individuals with autism and their families to enjoy local area attractions in a welcoming, non-judgmental, sensory-friendly environment (at no or low cost to the families).



Frequent local partners include: Omaha Symphony, Kiewit Luminarium, Omaha Community Playhouse, The Rose Theater, Opera Omaha, Omaha Children's Museum, Why Arts, Haven 150, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Werner Park, and American Midwest Ballet.

The Health Builders Club is open to men and women over 55 years of age to get together to play cards, board games, shoot pool, socialize and enjoy coffee time. Room 307. Open to those within the Pella school district.
