Provides family and sleep medicine, inpatient mental health services, and pulmonology, stroke care, and mammogram services.

Services include a crisis mental health evaluation in the Emergency Department, adult inpatient services, which offers 24-hour nursing care in a secure, therapeutic environment, and a transitional living program for those who face mental illness. Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children: a PMIC facility for emotionally disturbed children between the ages of 10 to 17 and is operated by Orchard Place, a private, non-sectarian, non-profit corporation. Orchard Place can accept children of average or potentially average intelligence who evidence a desire for help and a willingness to make a commitment to treatment. No child is denied admission on the basis of race, religion, creed, or residence.

Includes individual therapy for each child, recreational and group therapy, medication monitoring, pediatric and nursing services, family therapy; and therapeutic living relationships to enable living with self and others. Education provided through Des Moines Public Schools.

Admissions conducts assessments, identifies treatment needs, identifies the least restrictive treatment environment, and transfers individuals to that setting in the least amount of time. The program is designed to conduct thorough psychological evaluations and physical exams, and to begin a medication and treatment regime.

Forensic Mental Health Services (FMHS) provides a 128-bed male treatment facility which serves the State of Nebraska for individuals mainly involved in the legal system. It is comprised of two distinct programs, listed below:

Sexual Offenders Community Residential Program provides comprehensive treatment to individuals who demonstrate a pattern of sexually deviant behavior. The 85-bed male patient population includes convicted sex offenders who are offered treatment and patients committed by a mental health board. In addition, five of the beds are for female sex offenders. Aftercare services are also provided for individuals who have successfully completed the treatment program and are reintegrating into the community.

The Whitehall Program for adolescents who have sexually offended provides residential levels of care. Referrals are accepted for males ages 12-18. The program is family-centered and community-based. Forensic Psychiatric Services provides a 43 beds, evaluation and assessments for individuals as ordered by the Nebraska legal court systems.

Assessment, treatment and recovery for teens and young adults while also supporting parents and other family members. Treatment can include:

-- Residential mental health treatment.

-- Partnering with school-linked services.

-- Spanish services.

Offers inpatient hospitalization to stabilize the Childs current crisis. The hospital stay is not intended to provide long-term therapy and generally lasts approximately 10-14 days. During the child's stay, a plan will be developed for outpatient support. This will enable the child to continue the healing process after discharge. It is important that the parent or guardian participate in the treatment on a regular basis.
