Fayette County Recycling and Transfer Station offers a recycling center located at 18525 Lane Road, Fayette. The recycling center accepts plastics, cardboard, sorted office paper, newspaper, magazines, hardback books, and metal. Visit the website for a full list of accepted materials and specifics information. Electronics are not accepted at the recycling center and must be taken to the Fayette County Landfill.

The Solid Waste and Recycling Management coordinates and maintains the waste and recycling program for the county on Highway 9 in Waukon. This office also monitors rural dumpsites which accept trash, recyclables, and larger items such as furniture but are not intended for appliances or constructions debris. Items that can be recycled include metal, old batteries, used motor oil, appliances, cardboard, plastic, and glass.

Nonprofit providing volunteer service opportunities, Omaha-area litter reduction resources, environmental education programs, waste reduction and recycling information, and public tree canopy improvement projects.

The sale of donated items sold in retail stores supports mission programs. People in the community donate gently used clothing, furniture and household items to Goodwill. The proceeds from the sales of the donated items subsidize mission programs, giving thousands of individuals in the Omaha area the chance to earn a living, find independence and succeed in life.

Goodwill also accepts residential computers, printers and monitors at no charge, regardless of age or condition. Drop off at any Goodwill donation center. No tube TVs.

The county recycling center accepts cardboard, paper, #1 & #2 plastic, metal, glass (glass is accepted at the facility only - not in bins around the County), bicycles, barbecue grills, and lawn mowers. Does not accept sharps (needles, razors, etc.), construction debris (wood, shingles, dock planks), explosives (ammunition, fireworks), radioactive materials, concrete or stone, furniture, pop cans, glass bottles, plastic, Styrofoam or cardboard.
